AlFajr Quran and Islamic Studies school is a community based non-profit organization running under the Ottawa Muslim Association (OMA) aiming to ensure that Islamic education, Quranic education and inspiring principles and values of the Holy Quran are taught to students of various age groups and levels.

The school’s team of highly qualified teachers and valuable volunteers focus on teaching students from ages 4 to 18 years old to read and memorize several chapters of Quran in addition to understanding the verses. Students will learn how to read and pronounce the Holy Quran correctly with simple rolls of Tajweed and the basics of Al Nourania basis.

AlFajr school is held on Sunday from 11:00 am to 1:00pm online.

Student levels

Starting age: 4 years old.

Students learn the Arabic alphabet and memorize short surahs (al-Fatihah, al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq, an-Nas, an-Nasr….) and a few Duas Inshaa Allah.

Age: 5 to 6 years old.

Students learn the Arabic alphabet and memorize short surahs (al-Fatihahan-Nas, al-Falaq, al-Ikhlas, Al-Masad, an-Nasr, al-Kafirun, al-Kauthar).

Students learn how to read the Holy Quran correctly with simple rolls of Tajweed and principles of Al Nourania Qaeda. Teachers will show the students how to recognize and pronounce the Arabic alphabet with tashkeel (diacritics). 

Students memorize short surahs (al-Fatihah , an-Nas, al-Falaq, al-Ikhlas, , al-Ma`un, al-Quraish, al-Fil, al-Humazah, al-`Asr, at-Takathur, al-Qari`ah, al-`Adiyat).

Students continue to learn the rolls of Tajweed and principles of Al Nourania Qaeda. Teachers show the students how to recognize and pronounce the Arabic alphabet with tashkeel (diacritics).

Students memorize surahs (Az-Zalzala, al-Bayyinah, al-qadr, al-`Alaq, at-Tin, ash-Sharh, ad-Duha, al-Layl, Ash-Shams, al-Balad, al-Fajr, al-Ghashiya, al-A`la, at-Tariq).

Students continue learn the rolls of Tajweed and principles of Al Nourania Qaeda. Teachers show the students how to recognize and pronounce the Arabic alphabet with tashkeel (diacritics). 

Students memorize surahs (al-Buruj, al-Inshiqaq, Al-Mutaffifeen, al-Infitar, at-Takwir, `Abasa, an-Nazi`at, an-Naba’).

Students memorize Juz’ Tabarak (Juz 29) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.

Students memorize Juz’ Quad Samea (28) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.

Students memorize Juz’ Az Zariyat (Juz 27) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.

Students memorize Juz’ Al-Ahqaf (Juz 26) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.

Students memorize (Juz’25) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.

Students memorize (Juz’ 24) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.

Students memorize Juz’ Yaseen (Juz’ 23) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed.
